Growing up

It seems only a few months ago that my girls were playing with dolls houses and cuddly toys and yet those things have since been passed on to friends children to be played with.  It reminds me of "Toy Story" where Andy goes off to college and thinks he is far too old for those sorts of toys and Woody and his friends get packed up into a box to go in the loft.  The only good thing about having girls is that they still have a love for certain cuddly toys.  A-J loves "Me to You" bears and has lots of them adorning her bed and Em loves Hello Kitty.

Gone are the days of finger painting and braiding hair, these days its painting nails, trying out new make-up techniques, looking at different colours to dye your hair and all that girly stuff. Only last night I was informed in a very relaxed manner that as A-J is about to embark on 6th form that she wants to take more pride in herself and start looking her age.  She has inherited my "youthful" looking gene which she is not too impressed at as being 16 she wants to look like she is actually 18 and yet only looks 12.  I told her that in years to come she will love this Gene being in her makeup but as for now she feels its a curse (oh to be 16 again).  A-J as stated in my previous post LOVES fashion and is getting the hang of building up her key items in her wardrobe.  At the moment she loves the brand Gilly Hicks, one because its my the same company as A&F and hollister but two because over here in the UK Gilly Hicks is still very elite and so she is one of the forst ones to have the clothing.  She is so much like her dad in that manner.

Em is learning the art of fashion but it has been something to witness as she has a very unique sense of what goes together,  She is getting better at it and that is mainly due to the friends that she has at High school which a relief to see as for while there Old man Le Grice and I thought we were going to have to endure watching our daughter dress in goth style clothing.  Em has the "LeGs" gene from her dad and is already TOWERING over me (yes its true, i have to sit her down in order to tell her off these days).  And even though she is a giant when standing next to me or A-J she still loves to wear high heels.  No matter what size heel I wear these days I still look vertically challenged when standing with my family.

So if you are reading this and you have a baby girl or girl aged 5 and under and you think that this day for you so far into the future that it really isn't worth thinking about.......do not kid yourself.......children grow up very fast, I am still convinced that somewhere between the ages of 5 and 12 we mums somehow get put into a living coma where we are not actually able to witness our daughters drowing up before our eyes until the spell is broken.  So please enjoy the arts and craft session you have and the afternoons of baking cupcakes and sweet treats with your little girls because they soon become memories that you will be day dreaming of.

Bare With me

So I set up this blog with the intention of posting on a regular basis but due to my lack of IT skills I got lost along the way But I have decided to take the plunge and try to jump in and learn as I blog.

OK so where to start? Well let me tell you alittle bit about myself and my family. I am married to a wonderful man who goes by the Name of Phil or LeGman, recently though he has been given another name by our friends 2 1/2 year old little boy......that name is Old Man Le Grice...the first time we heard it we were sitting reverently in Sacrament meeting whilst the bread was being passed and Phil was one of the priesthood holders actually passing the sacrament when from behind us we heard "Old Man Le Grice" being shouted in Phil's direction for all to hear, the girls and I had to sit there trying our hardest not Laugh out Loud esp as this little boy continued to call this out. needless to say the reverence was short lived. Phil is a gadget boy through and through........If we go into town you can always be sure that he will find the Apple store or the other stores that sells these tiny yet expensive bits of technology. He becomes all transfixed with that glazed look you see on a Trekky when they attend a Star Trek convention. One of the wonderful things that I LOVE and adore about my husband is that he LOVES to shop. Seriously he loves shopping esp when it comes to clothes and it is not just clothes for himself he loves shopping for clothes for the girls and I and has a real eye for fashion. No wonder we were given girls from Heavenly Father, he obv knew that they would be well dressed with a dad like Phil. Only downside to this is that Phil likes the "nice" clothes.....the labelled ones which the girls have learnt to love too.

Our Eldest daughter Amie-Jo is 16. I know. I know, before you say I know that I don't look old enough to have a 16 year old I have obv been blessed with the Snow white gene of looking olny a few years older that 16 myself, but its a curse I have to bear and bear it I will! (who am I kidding, I refuse to tell people that I started having children just after I left the teens years myself and prefer for people to think my children are adopted...lol) So back to Amie-Jo or as she prefers to be addressed these days AJ. Horseriding is her passion and we try to indulge this hobby as best we can, although no pony has been purchased in her Honour much to her disbelief. She wants to be an interior designer when she leaves school, which I will make sure to use and abuse if that is the road she ends up taking, she can ceratinly design my home and furnish it with her tastes for sure. AJ is is her last year of High School and in a few months time she will be in high Education. AJ came into this world much earlier than planned and weighed a tiny 4lb. Right from day 1 she was an Angel, Motherhood was a breeze and I enjoyed every single second of having a newborn. Because of this experience I wanted to relive the joy soon after and just 21 months later along came Emily.

Emily also came into this world earlier than planned and brought with her a spirit of adventure, she is our "spirited"child. Emily is 14 and yet looks older than her sister which she loves when people mention. Emily loves to draw and to write poetry. Emily is a very compassionate person wh has a great gift when working with younger children.

then there is me.....LeGlady. Here I am looking youthful as mentioned above and the shortest member of my family. they say the best things come in small packages (to this Phil will always state and so does arsenic, how rude!) I LOVE, LOVE, Love to bake cakes and cupcakes. and in the past year have taken to make these and have even been paid for a couple of them. another love of mine is having Yankee candles lit all over my home......a strange obsession but one that has to be indulged almost every day. I love travelling and have been blessed to have had many holidays away from home both with my family and also on my own (more posting will follow about some of those) I love shopping but getting things a a discounted price, I am the Barjhon Queen and often use this talent to having my Christmas presents bought in January ready for the December......this year I am a bit behind but will state I only have 8 more gifts to buy!!!! I love looking after children and Babies and offer my services to friends at every opportunity.

So now you know alittle of our family and hopefully this blog will continue to help you get to know us. I will in the meantime add a few blogs about happenings from the days we already call the past to enlighten you into some of the predicaments that I seem to get myself in. I will also try to learn how to post photos on this blog to go along with the posting and hope that this learning curve will be one that is enjoyable for both you and for me.
